 Lorraine Swift Abbott is the president of Tec-Com Inc.
and the editor of its various publications. From 1948 until she founded Tec-Com in 1986,
she was a technical writer and editor in the fields of radiation shielding and nuclear
engineering at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA. She has a
bachelor's degree in chemistry from Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee, and has
received recognition for communication excellence from the American Nuclear Society, the
Society for Risk Analysis, and the East Tennessee chapter of the Society for Technical
Communication.
Richard Neil Abbott has been vice president and
secretary of Tec-Com Inc. since 1988. He is a senior editor on most of the company's
publications and the author of special reports researched for Tec-Com clients. He has a
doctor of jurisprudence, a master's degree in business administration, a master of science
degree in planning, and a bachelor's degree in architecture, all from the University of
Tennessee in Knoxville. He has received design and communication awards from the East
Tennessee chapters of the Society for Technical Communication and Industrial Graphics
International, and his academic honors included a first place national award from the
American Institute of Certified Planners in recognition of his thesis on national energy
planning. He is a licensed attorney in the state of Tennessee.
Mary Robertson Bryant has been
with Tec-Com Inc. since 1989 and is the principal compiler and editor of several RiskWorld
departments. She has a bachelor's degree in applied music from Maryville College in
Maryville, Tennessee, and a master's degree in church music and organ from Northwestern
University School of Music in Evanston, Illinois. Before returning to her native Tennessee
and joining Tec-Com, she lived for a time in the Netherlands and Israel, working in the
latter country as a television production assistant.
Katie Ingersoll has served as treasurer
and office manager of Tec-Com Inc. since 1987. She is also the page layout designer of the
company's various desktop publications and the compiler and editor of several RiskWorld
departments. Before joining Tec-Com, she worked as an information processing leader at Oak
Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She is a graduate of Knoxville Business
College in Knoxville, Tennessee, and attended Roane State Community College in Oak Ridge,
Tennessee. She received a technical communication award from the East Tennessee chapter of
the Society for Technical Communication in 1992.
A. C. Reed is
a senior editor of
Tec-Com's publications, specializing in news articles and reports based on personal research and
interviews. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee's School of
Communications, where she received the Chancellor's Citation for Academic Achievement. She
has worked as a writer for Australian Geographic and Australian Good
Housekeeping in Sydney, Australia; Popular Science in New York City; and Business
North Carolina in Charlotte, North Carolina. She also served as business editor of the
Daily News in Jacksonville, North Carolina, before returning to Tennessee and
joining Tec-Com in 1992.
Consultants
Ward Engle,
a retired nuclear engineer, is a computer systems and network consultant based in Lenoir
City, Tennessee. He is responsible for the installation, upgrading, and maintenance of all
of Tec-Com's computer networks and world wide web systems, the latter including Tec-Com's
own RiskWorld.
Dan Ingersoll, a nuclear engineer with a background
in computer graphics, creates graphics for Tec-Com's publications, both those published in
print and those published on the internet, the latter including Tec-Com's own RiskWorld.
